Due to Bollywood actor Aamir Khan’s film ‘Lal Singh Chaddha’, Hindu and Sikh organizations have come face to face in Punjab. While Hindu organizations are opposing Aamir Khan and his film by accusing him of insulting Hindu gods and goddesses, Sikh organizations have come out in favor of the Bollywood star.
Sikh organizations say that the film ‘Lal Singh Chaddha’ is based on a Sikh character and Hindus have no right to oppose it. The atmosphere in Jalandhar city became tense as organizations belonging to two major communities came face to face in this manner.
Aamir Khan’s film ‘Lal Singh Chaddha’ released on Thursday. The film was screened at PVR Cinemas located at MBD Mall in Jalandhar. Members of Shiv Sena and other Hindu organizations gathered outside the mall as soon as the show of the film started at around 1.30 pm on Thursday. Police force was deployed on the spot seeing the atmosphere getting tense. After several hours of uproar, the PVR management finally assured to stop the show of ‘Lal Singh Chaddha’. After this the leaders of Hindu organizations left from there.
Events took a turn when the officials of the Sikh Coordination Committee reached there as soon as the Hindu leaders left the mall. Despite being stopped by the police, these people entered the mall and told the PVR managers that the shows of the film should not stop. Now he will see who comes and stops the film.
The film’s shows are continuing in Jalandhar after assurances from Sikh organizations.
Hindu organizations surrounded MBD Mall
As soon as the first show of Aamir Khan’s film ‘Lal Singh Chaddha’ starts at PVR cinema on Thursday morning, Shiv Sena Hind chief Ishant Sharma, Shiv Sena Taksali’s Sunil Kumar Bunty, Shiv Sena Tangri chief Vinay, Shiv Sena Balthakare’s chief Rohit Joshi, Bajrang Dal chief Inderjit Jha, Dharmendra Mishra of Shri Ram Bhagat Sena along with their workers reached outside MBD Mall.
Said- we will refund the ticket money
As soon as Hindu organizations started protesting, the police increased the force outside MBD Mall. Despite being stopped by the police, the protesters entered the mall and reached the PVR cinema. PVR management told him that the show has started and the audience is sitting inside. On this, the Hindu leaders said that they would give their ticket money to the audience sitting inside, but Aamir Khan’s film would not work.
PVR removed the film after protests escalated
Seeing the growing protests, the PVR management said that they are ready to stop the show of the film. On this the leaders and workers of Hindu organizations came outside the mall. After a while a manager of PVR came to him and told that the film has been removed. Hearing this, the leaders and workers of Hindu organizations left from there.
Sikh organizations arrived as soon as Hindu leaders left
On the other hand, as soon as the Hindu leaders left, the officials of the Sikh Coordination Committee along with their workers reached MBD Mall. Sikh Coordination Committee office-bearers Harpal Singh Chaddha, Gurvinder Singh Nagi, Tejinder Singh Pardeshi, Harpreet Singh, Vicky Khalsa, Sunny Oberoi, Gurvinder Singh Sidhu, Harpal Singh Pali, Tejinder Singh, Lakhbir Singh Lucky and Gurjit Singh Satnamiya alleged that Shiv Sena’s The leaders are trying to spoil the atmosphere.
The leaders of the Sikh Coordination Committee said that they did not come to promote Aamir Khan or to count his achievements. The reason for his coming is that Aamir Khan has made a film on a Sikh. If anyone opposes it, they are standing to counter it.
Opposing PK in 2016 itself
Harpal Singh Chadha said that Aamir’s film has been approved by the SGPC and other Sikh organizations after seeing it. When Sikh organizations do not have any problem then who are the people of Shiv Sena to oppose. If Hindu organizations are angry with Aamir, then they should have opposed the 2016 film PK at the same time.
Harpal Singh and Gurvinder Singh Nagi said that Aamir Khan’s films have a message. They are sarcastic on the inconsistencies. Aamir gets completely immersed in the character he plays. On the other hand Shiv Sena leaders said that they are not opposing the film. He is only opposing Aamir Khan and the reason for this is the insult of Hindu gods and goddesses by Aamir Khan in the 2016 film PK. Hindu organizations had decided at the same time that they would oppose Aamir Khan everywhere.

The entire dispute lasted for about three and a half hours. Sikh Coordination Committee workers who reached outside MBD Mall raised slogans against Shiv Sena. Had the activists of Hindu organizations been present there, there could have been a clash between the two.
SGPC members watched the film with Aamir
Before the release of ‘Lal Singh Chaddha’, the members of the Shiromani Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee (SGPC) and its research committee saw the film sitting with Aamir Khan. Aamir Khan himself came to Jalandhar on August 3 to get the film approved. A special show of ‘Lal Singh Chaddha’ was arranged at a mall in Jalandhar.
Aamir had also talked about the ongoing controversy regarding the film in a meeting with the SGPC members. He told SGPC that the film did not comment on Sikhism in any way.
