Neeraj Chopra won the silver medal with a javelin throw of 88.13 meters in the javelin throw event of the World Athletics Championships in Eugene, USA. First up was Anderson Peters. Peters threw the javelin beyond 90 meters in 3 of his 6 attempts. He became India’s first male athlete to win a medal at the World Athletics Championships. Overall, he is the second Indian to win a medal in the 39-year history of the championship. She was preceded by Indian women’s long jump athlete Anju Baby George.
