New Delhi, Aug 12 (IANS) Stand-up comedian Raju Srivastava’s health has been deteriorating ever since he suffered a heart attack. Sources in AIIMS, Delhi have given this information on Friday.
A hospital source told IANS that Raju Srivastava’s condition is critical in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
The source said that the comedian’s condition is not stable and he is being kept under strict supervision of doctors.
According to family sources, Raju Srivastava has not regained consciousness for the last 46 hours and doctors have said that he has a brain injury.
Family sources said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi called Raju Srivastava’s wife Shikha on Friday to inquire about his health and offered cooperation.
In addition, Prime Minister Modi, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath have spoken to Raju Srivastava’s family to inquire about his condition.
Srivastava, 59, was admitted to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences Delhi on Wednesday after suffering a heart attack while exercising at the gym here.
Srivastava was running on a treadmill when he suffered a heart attack and was taken to AIIMS.
The comedian was taken to the catheterization lab for emergency angiography. He was given cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) twice that day.
Raju Srivastava, who was active in the entertainment industry, gained recognition in 2005 after participating in the first season of the stand-up comedy show The Great Indian Laughter Challenge.
He is also the President of UP Film Development Council.
